National Engineering Day

Today is National Engineering Day, a celebration led by the Royal Academy of Engineering to highlight how engineers improve lives and shape the world around us.

This year’s campaign aims to make engineering and the people behind it more visible, helping everyone understand what engineers actually do and inspiring the next generation to get involved.

At System Five, analytics4energy and 4energy group, our engineersplay a crucial role inhelping clients save energy, reduce carbon emissions, and create more comfortable, efficient buildings.

Today, as part of National Engineering Day 2025, we’re celebrating the talented apprentice engineers who are shaping the future.

Georgie Weaver is one of several Apprentice BEMS Engineers working with us and is progressing rapidly through BEMS Controls Engineer Apprenticeship through the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) and Group Horizon, as well as learning alongside our experienced engineers out on site.

▶️We asked Georgie what being an engineer means to him:“ For me, being an engineer is about finding smart ways to solve problems that helppeople stay healthy and comfortable.

My training is constantly building my understanding of how different equipment, software and technologies work together to design systems that waste less and perform better.

It’s exciting to know that the solutions I help create today will keep making a differencefor years to come. Every day brings a new challenge and a chance to learn something new.

Technology in energy management is evolving so quickly, and I’m motivated to be part ofthat journey developing my skills and knowledge to keep improving how buildings use energy.

”We’re proud of Georgie’s progress and of all our engineers and apprentices who are helping to create smarter, more sustainable buildings for the future.
